Product Testimonials
Dear Ian and Frank:
I want to thank you so much for inviting us to the fire safety program that you held on March 28th. When you came to our home and demonstrated the fire safety drill and installed our system, we never thought we would be writing you this letter.
Well just 21 days later my eleven year old twin boys turned the ceiling fan on and went to bed; later that night the combination heat and smoke detector in their bedroom alarmed. The boys came running out as I came running in. The ceiling fan was smoking. The room was filling up with smoke. It was so dark you couldn’t see anything. We turned off the electricity and opened the windows to clear the smoke. Luckily we were all warned in time.
We are so glad we heeded your advice to install a detector in every room. Due to the early detection of the smoke, the fan did not have a chance to burst into flame. We feel that the combination heat and smoke detector in the boy’s room prevented them from suffocating.
We bought the system not sure that we could really afford it, but because of it, we still have our boys. It was the best investment we have ever made.
Thank You Again,
Barbara and James P.

Dear MasterGuard:
We had our MasterGuard Alarm System installed April 21, 1990. On April 4, 1996 at 12:30 A.M. (six years after our MasterGuard alarms were installed) we had our fire. The fire started from an electrical short in the wall. Every one of our alarms worked, just like you said they would. Every one of us made it out safely, all six of us, Bob and myself, our two sons Darren and Jessie and our two grandchildren, Justin and Heath.
If you ever have anyone ask if they should get MasterGuard tell them to call me. I personally don’t think I could sleep in a house that did not have a MasterGuard System installed.
Sincerely,
Agnes B.

Dear Dale:
On the night of January 12, 1999 our investment in MasterGuard paid off.
I awoke as the alarms sounded at about 2 A.M. to the strange smell of what I thought was cigar smoke in our home. We jumped out of bed and headed down the stairs. At first we were unable to tell where the smoke was coming from since no flames were visible. Aaron then located the source in our den. Smoldering embers from our fireplace had ignited and were burning into the carpet and the paneling on the wall.
Luckily the fire was put out safely by Aaron with the extinguisher we got with our system. Our damage was limited to the den with just the smell of smoke throughout the house. Thank God no one was hurt.
I think how fortunate we were to have the system in place since my husband said he had not been able to smell anything. I was three months pregnant at the time and odd smells often bothered me. If we didn’t have the MasterGuard system, and I had smelled the smoke, I might have gone back to sleep.
Our investment with MasterGuard has proven its worth. Thank You.
Sincerely,
Aaron & Alison M.

Dear Dale and Jon:
My husband Marvin and I invested in a MasterGuard alarm system three years ago when we were on the farm. One and a half years ago we moved to a house in town after selling our farm. We weren’t sure about where to put our alarms in our new home and when we called to ask, you were nice enough to send Jon Bauman from the Southeast Minnesota office in Kasson to help us put up the alarms. We are older now and it’s hard to climb ladders and work overhead, so that was a great help to us.
Late last year my husband Marvin passed away. God bless him, and now I am alone. I don’t have any relatives or close friends near by any more.
On Tuesday, December 21, 1999, I was cooking down apples to store them, and I wasn’t watching the stove. I was at the kitchen table sorting coupons when the heat alarm between the kitchen and the dining room went off. It was almost directly over my head and I nearly jumped out of my skin, there was some smoke but no flames. I was surprised that the heat alarm went off when there weren’t any flames. I was not more than ten feet away from that stove and did not know that the fire was there. I did not hear, see or smell anything until that alarm went off. I was amazed that the alarm rang so quickly, but also relieved that I had these alarms. If I would not have known about that fire for very much longer, I may not have gotten out of the house. (I don’t move so fast anymore).
Thank you, Dale and Jon, for saving my life and my home. Also, thanks Jon for coming out right away the next day to check, test, and reactivate my alarms.
Thank you so very much and God bless you.

To Whom It May Concern:
In December 1996 my wife and I went to a MasterGuard fire and heat detector demonstration. It was very impressive. Because of the demonstration, which was given by George Wray, we bought seven units for our home. On November 22, 2000, I was awakened by the smoke alarm in our bedroom. I went to the living room where I heard the other fire alarms ringing and found flames going up the wall above the fireplace mantel. I called the fire department and then tried to contain the fire with an extinguisher but to no avail. I got out of the house and waited for the fire department. The house was saved but with a lot of damage. Also I might not be here to write this letter if not for these detectors in our home.
Our MasterGuard representative, George Wray, was notified and was there within the week. When the house is repaired, MasterGuard detectors will be installed again.
Sincerely,
Adrian L.

Dear MasterGuard:
At about 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 22, 2007, my 6 and 3 year old grandsons and I arrived at my home. They went directly downstairs to play and I told them that they would have a special treat. They would get to eat lunch downstairs. I have never permitted any of my grandchildren to do that before, but they were playing so nice and they hadn’t been over to our house for awhile. I proceeded to make lunch, frying some bacon and making a BLT-type sandwich.
I remember thinking to myself that I need to shut the burner off which was cooking the bacon. I know the temperature was set at 2.5 on the temperature dial. I remember turning the dial and the action of it popping into place.
I took the boys’ lunch downstairs first and then went back to finish preparing mine. I went back upstairs to the kitchen to get my lunch and took it downstairs to join the boys for lunch while we watched t.v.
Suddenly I heard a strange noise upstairs. I didn’t have time to think what it might be because at that point the loud MasterGuard fire alarm went off. As I went back up the stairs and looked around the corner, I couldn’t believe my eyes. There, in just a matter of moments flames had developed from the stove top going up to the ceiling. The microwave which was sitting above the stove began melting onto the stove and there was 2 feet of black smoke covering as much of the ceiling as far as I could see throughout the kitchen, dining room and living room. Grab the fire extinguisher was my next thought but didn’t know where it was. I was scared to death and remembered to call 911 and by the grace of God; the phone was close by. I then screamed for the boys to get up the stairs and out the door. We had no coats, they had no shoes on and it was winter cold in North Dakota, but at least we were safe.
Thank God that alarm went off when it did or it might have been too late for us to get out alive by the time we smelled smoke while we were in the basement
Thank you MasterGuard for your life-saving products!

On November 14, 2007 around 9:00 a.m., I was in the kitchen and Lynn was in the living room when all of the MasterGuard Heat and Smoke Alarms starting sounding and we went to see what was going on. We did not smell anything.
The bathroom wall was already flaming and thick black smoke was boiling out of the door. We grabbed the phone and dog and ran outside and called 911. It all happened so fast, we just barely had time to get out of the house.
Our bathroom was a total loss and all the rest of the house had smoke and heat damage.
If those alarms had not been sounding we might not have gotten out in time. I believe that we are alive and unharmed because we had your alarms and that God was watching over us.

To Whom It May Concern:
We wanted to write this letter to let you know how very much we were blessed to have your equipment installed in our house. It actually saved our lives immediately.
As soon as Larry Benson installed our detectors in our home, the carbon monoxide detector kept going off in our bedroom. We thought it needed a new battery, which we replaced. We could not get the alarm to stay off and we could not smell any gas, etc. Larry brought us another one and we replaced the entire detector. The alarm still went off.
Larry suggested that we call the gas company which we did. They came out and said our house had a high level of carbon dioxide and wondered how we could even stand to be in the house. Well, we had been coughing and were sick but didn’t know why. The gas man discovered that the vent on our water heater was not attached. Apparently, the man who roofed our house pulled the vent off the water heater as he was pulling off the old roof. The water heater is enclosed in a closet in our bedroom so we did not know we had this dangerous situation until we installed your detectors.
I am so glad that we attended Larry’s excellent fire training and prevention class at Westwood Village Club House. He gave us so many ideas and suggestions on what to do to prevent fire and be safe in our home. I appreciate having a loving husband for getting your awesome detectors installed. It has been truly a life saver already. We may not be here today if it were not for your wonderful product. We really appreciate Larry too and his concern for our welfare.
Thanks again, now we can rest assured that we are protected and secure with such a wonderful alarm system as yours to keep us safe.

To Whom It May Concern:
On January 18, 2008, at 9:30 a.m., the thing that no one wants to hear, happened to us. Our heat detector in our shed, which was more than 30 feet away from our house, was sounding an alarm. I was vacuuming when our dog started acting strange so I shut the sweeper off and that is when I heard the detector in the shed. When I opened the door to the shed, the ceiling around the wood furnace burst into flames and shot down the interior wall. I went back into the house and called my daughter-in-law who lives just down the road from us, but I didn’t get to finish the call before the phone went dead but she had heard enough and did call 911. Since we live in the country, it took the fire department a little while to get the men together. The first truck arrived less than 20 minutes after they were called.
The firemen had just arrived but were not set up when a barbecue propane tank that was sitting by the shed overheated and shot into our house and then exploded.
We had detectors in the dining area just off the kitchen, one in the hallway, and one in each bedroom. We also had a detector in the laundry room just off the kitchen and by this time, all the detectors were sounding an alarm warning. They were really loud. They certainly did their job and we thank God everyday that we had the MasterGuard detectors and not some cheap ones. We lost all our pets and everything in the shed and house, but thanks to the alarm in the shed, we didn’t lose any human lives. They may cost a little more to purchase than the others, but we really feel a lot safer with them than the other types. The Fire Marshal even said if we hadn’t had those detectors, I might not be here today. Thank God and MasterGuard.

We purchased heat detectors, smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors on
January 16, 2008 from MasterGuard.
On March 22, 2008, at 11:30 p.m. the carbon monoxide detector went off and we immediately called the fire department.
Upon having the furnace checked, a crack was found in the heat exchanger which was emitting carbon monoxide when it ran and the crack expanded. The furnace is located downstairs, which is where we all sleep.
I am so glad we had a carbon monoxide detector. Previously we had not had one. It was worth every penny we paid for it!! It saved us from the possibility of losing a family member to carbon monoxide poisoning. That is a priceless gift! The purchase we made on January 16 from the MasterGuard dealer has already paid for itself with this one incident.
Hopefully we will never have to use them again, but if something happens, I feel safer and more confident by having these alarms in our home.

To Whom It May Help,
We purchased the MasterGuard alarms originally back in September, 2005. At the time we didn’t know if we would ever use them, but after seeing the presentation we thought “better be safe than sorry.”
In March of 2009 that decision saved our lives. It was 7:15 a.m. when I heard a noise coming from the door leading to the breezeway between our house and our garage.
When I opened the door I saw flames shooting from the garage and recognized the sound of the Heat Detector going off. I closed the door and yelled downstairs in the basement to my 33 year old grandson to get up and get out.
I immediately called the fire department and then went to wake up my 81 year old husband, Loren, who was sleeping. We all made it outside safely before the fire department arrived.
When the fire department arrived the fire had already spread through the breezeway and into our kitchen. Although the fire caused extensive smoke damage, we know how easily we could have lost all our lives.
We lived all these years without a fire and could have used lots of excuses not to spend the money four years ago. Thank the LORD we did, because none of these excuses would have saved our grandson or ourselves. It only takes one time.
